
Branimir Bajac
Research Associate at the BioSens Institute
Dr. Branimir Bajac, a senior researcher at the BioSens Institute and coordinator of materials development, earned his PhD at the Faculty of Technology in Novi Sad, specializing in materials engineering. He has participated in the design and commissioning of equipment and laboratories at the institute and in the strategic planning of material development aimed at sustainability through innovation. His main interests are related to monitoring devices and methods in the agricultural supply chain from farm to table. He is one of the pioneers in the development of thin films for electronic applications in Serbia and is working to elevate this field through nanofabrication technologies at the BioSens Institute. Additionally, part of his focus is on sustainable materials for smart food packaging and innovative processing methods. Through his work in this area, he is developing polysaccharide and protein films for protecting fruits and indicating product spoilage, aiming to reduce waste in the food industry. He is currently active in several Horizon projects, projects funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, and collaborations with industry. Besides his academic references, he has experience in entrepreneurship and sales, which he aims to merge with practical ideas in research directed toward industry and addressing current challenges. Through numerous collaborations and networking at both local and global levels, he strives to contribute to the development of the scientific community in the country, with a focus on educating and mentoring young people.
